The State Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation (SACHP) is a nine-member committee appointed by the governor that reviews and votes on the eligibility of National Register nominations in Oregon. The SACHP meets three times per year to review nominations brought forward by the SHPO National Register program. When the SACHP finds a nomination eligible, it then recommends the State Historic Preservation Officer to sign the nomination and forward it to the National Register program in Washington D.C. for its review and listing. The SACHP also advises the SHPO on matters of program, policy, and budget.
The SACHP meets annually in February, June, and October. Official meeting dates and locations are announced publicly 90 to 60 days before the meeting on this website. Property owners and preparers submitting National Register nominations, local government officials, and local historic preservation commissions with proposed properties in their jurisdiction receive notification of meeting location, time, and agenda 60 days before the meeting. All meeting locations are accessible to persons with disabilities. Special accommodations for the hearing impaired require advance notification to the State Historic Preservation Office.

| Nomination of the Northwest Neighborhood Historic District, Cottage Grove |
|
The nomination for the Northwest Neighborhood Historic District, Cottage Grove, Lane Co., OR was heard at the October 23rd meeting of the State Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation. At the hearing the SACHP determined that the nomination needed further work and deferred final judgment on the submission until a later date. Minutes from the meeting can be found under the heading "Past Meetings of the SACHP" on this page. At this time the Friends of Mount David, the nomination proponents, intend to make changes to the nomination and resubmit it for consideration. At this time it is unknown when that will be.
The SACHP is an advisory body whose responsibility is to evaluate historic properties for listing and make recommendations to the Keeper of the National Register in Washington, DC. If approved, the nomination will be held for up to 90 days before being forwarded to Keeper. Once received by the Keeper, the nomination will be under consideration for a 45 day period. Letters of support or dissent may be sent to the Oregon SHPO anytime during the nomination process. Letters received before the October 23rd meeting of the SACHP will be presented to that body at the hearing.
As is dictated by federal law, each property owner who wishes to oppose the historic district must submit a notarized statement stating that they are the owner of a property within the proposed historic district. An explanation of the process and appropriate forms are below. Those who wish may write letters of support. All correspondence should be sent by regular mail to:
