Featured Historic Cemetery
Gibson Cemetery, Clackamas County
Gibson Cemetery, Clackamas County
James Gibson was buried in the public cemetery located on land that he had donated for that purpose.  The cemetery became part of the Estacada Cemetery Association in 1967 and is maintained by that tax-supported organization. The cemetery contains 32 known burials, but many markers have disappeared over the years.

James Gibson was born in Meigs, Ohio April 8, 1826 to Harmon and Hannah Brooks Gibson. He married Marie Ellis on February 26, 1851. She died in 1861 and Gibson married Emily Scott Garrison. The family, including seven children, traveled the Oregon Trail, settling on the land where the cemetery is now located.
