With the 150th anniversary of Oregon statehood nearing, there is an increased interest in Oregon history books, especially those published in the past 50 years. We would like a few minutes of your time to help with a project that will make information about these more recent books more easily available to the public.
The State Historic Preservation Office and the Oregon Heritage Commission, along with other heritage programs in the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, are compiling a list of published histories of counties and cities in Oregon. Those lists will be published on this website.
We would like to have you tell us the names of published histories for your county and cities. The information you can provide is author, title, publication year, publisher's name, a brief summary of the contents, and your comments about the book. You can send the information to heritage.info@state.or.us or to History Book Project, Oregon Heritage Commission, 725 Summer St. NE, Suite C, Salem, OR 97301-1266.
