Philip Foster Farm, 2007 Preserving Oregon Project
The Heritage Programs Division offers grants in several historic preservation and heritage-related project areas. All are matching grants (usually 50/50 match) with the exception of the Historic Cemetery Grants.  The five categories of grants are as follows:
  • Preserving Oregon Grants
  • Certified Local Government (CLG) Grants
  • Historic Cemetery Grants
  • Heritage Grants
  • Museum Grants

Preserving Oregon Grants
 
The Oregon State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) has $250,000 available for the 2009 Preserving Oregon Grant Program. These funds are to be used for:
  • rehabilitation work that supports the preservation of historic resources listed on the National Register of Historic Properties, or
  • for significant work contributing toward identifying, preserving and/or interpreting archaeological sites.
Grant funds may be awarded for amounts up to $20,000, which must be matched 1:1 by the grantee.   The Applications are due October 16, 2009.  Information for applicants is in the 2009 Preserving Oregon Grant Application and the other documents below:

CLG Grants
The Certified Local Government (CLG) program offers  grants  to cities and counties that have been "certified" as historic preservation partners with both the state and the federal governments.  These grants can be used for a wide range of historic preservation activities, including  National Register nominations, historic property surveys, preservation education projects, preservation code development, building restoration, and preservation planning.  Between roughly $65,000 and $200,000 is currently available per year, depending on the federal allocation and state priorities.

Historic Cemetery Grants
The Oregon Commission on Historic Cemeteries offers Historic Cemetery Grants for protection, rehabilitation, planning and education related to historic cemeteries.
 
The DEADLINE for the next grant cycle is April 19, 2010.

Heritage Grants
The Oregon Heritage Commission also administers the Heritage Grant Program, which provides matching grants for a wide range of heritage-related projects by local, regional, or statewide groups.  There is currently $200,000 per biennium in this program.

Museum Grants
The Oregon Heritage Commission administers the Museum Grant Program, which provides grants to public and non-profit heritage museums statewide.  Currently $100,000 per biennium is available in this program.
